“ CREDO PROFONDAMENTE NEL MIO CAVALLO: PHUNAMBULE DES
AUGES”

Siamo riusciti ad intervistare via mail
il fenomeno del completo francese, dopo il grande successo ottenuto al
Campionato Europeo, che si è svolto in terra francese. Nonostante i numerosi impegni, è riuscito
gentilmente a concedersi in intervista. Ecco le sue toccanti parole:
We
were able to interview the French phenomenon via e-mail, after the great
success achieved at the European Championship, which took place in France
1. Two other
medals in your rich results palmares. What kind of emotion do you feel, to win
and especially in France, in front of your audience?
“We had a very good team this
year. Our goal was to have a medal and we achieved to reach the gold one. It
was the first time I ran a championship in France and it was an incredible
experience. The audience was amazing and
I left this competition with wonderful memories.”
Altre due medaglie si aggiungono al tuo ricco
palmares. Cosa hai provato a vincere in Francia, dinnanzi al tuo pubblico?
“ Avevamo una squadra molto competitiva quest’anno.
Il nostro obiettivo era ottenere una medaglia, ed alla fine abbiamo ottenuto
quella d’oro. Era la prima volta che gareggiavo in un campionato in Francia ed
è stata una esperienza incredibile. Il pubblico è stato fantastico, ed ho
lasciato questa competizione con ricordi meravigliosi”
2. Comment and
balance of this European championship day by day: dressage, cross and
jumping...a championship with many twists, doesn't it?
“We arrived on Monday and I
knew I will have my first test on Friday. It allows my horse and I to find our
feet and to be well concentrated.
For the dressage day, we have well prepared this test
at the training period. I was afraid my horse would be too excited but it
wasn’t the case. On the contrary, I think I have trained too long before the
test and I made a mistake at the canter. Finally, I am very satisfied of the
result, my horse did a very well performance.
For the cross day, we knew that at Fontainebleau the
time will be very difficult to do. That’s why the staff and I decided to take
this horse because the tour will be perfect for him. My horse was literally
incredible and I really enjoyed to run this tour.
For the jumping day, I was really confident on my
horse, I just have not to make mistake. I always knew it was a horse for
championships. He knew it was the
last step before the end ,and he gave everything he could.”
Facciamo un commento ed un bilancio di questo
campionato, analizzandolo giorno per giorno: dal dressage al salto ostacoli. Un
campionato con molti colpi di scena, non è vero?
“ Siamo arrivati il lunedì, ma sapevo che avrei avuto
il mio primo test dressage il venerdì. Questo ha permesso a me ed al cavallo di
ambientarci e di essere ben concentrati. Il giorno del dressage, noi ci eravamo
preparati molto bene nella fase di allenamento. Avevo solo paura che il mio
cavallo sarebbe stato troppo eccitato, ma non era il caso. Al contrario, penso
di essermi allenato troppo a lungo prima del test ed ho fatto un errore al galoppo.
Alla fine sono molto soddisfatto del risultato, il mio cavallo si è espresso
molto bene in campo. Quanto alla giornata del cross, sapevamo che a Fontainebleau
il tempo sarebbe stato difficile da fare. Questo è il motivo per cui io e la
mia equipe abbiamo deciso di portare proprio questo cavallo, perché il giro
sarebbe stato perfetto per lui. Il mio cavallo è stato a dir poco incredibile e
mi è davvero piaciuto completare questo percorso. Per la giornata di concorso
ippico, ero molto fiducioso del mio cavallo, non dovevo sbagliare. Ho sempre
saputo che si trattava di un cavallo per i campionati. Sapeva che era l’ultimo
passo prima della fine ed ha dato tutto quello che poteva.”
3. On the podium
and in the lap of honor, alone and with your team. What do you think, feel,
remember?
“It is always a unique moment
to obtain two European champion titles, it is something that doesn’t happen
every day so I try to enjoy as much as possible.
It is for me a huge pride to make sounded the
Marseillaise, particularly in France. During
the medal ceremony and the honour round, I think of my horse and of all the
people around me trying to thanking them as much as possible in my head.”
Sul podio, durante il giro d’onore, da solo e con la
squadra. Cosa hai pensato, provato, ricordato?
“ E' sempre un momento unico ottenere due titoli
europei, è qualcosa che non succede tutti i giorni, così ho cercato di godermi
quegli istanti il più possibile. Per me è un enorme orgoglio far suonare la Marsigliese ,
specialmente in Francia. Durante la cerimonia di premiazione ed il giro
d’onore, ho pensato al mio cavallo ed a tutte le persone attorno a me cercando
di ringraziarli il più possibile nella
mia mente”

4. After this
competition, what does Victor do? what are the next shows?
“I am going to take a few
days of holidays and then I will go to an international competition at the
Haras du Pin with two of my horses, Mac which is one of my best ones and my 7
years old horse Giraldi. My last goals of the competition season are the Young
Riders French Championships and one or two 3*.”
Dopo questa gara, cosa fa Victor? Quali saranno i
prossimi impegni di gara?
"Prenderò alcuni giorni di vacanza e poi andrò a
una competizione internazionale all'Haras du Pin, con due dei miei cavalli, Mac
che è uno dei miei migliori e il mio cavallo Giraldi di 7 anni. I miei ultimi
obiettivi della stagione agonistica sono i Campionati francesi Young Riders e
uno o due 3 *. "
5. Let's talk
about your european horse: Phunambule des Auges. Present him
well: character, characteristics, qualities, defects, what do you like, what
you do not like, how it is to work, in what test is best expressed ...
“Phunambule des
Auges, gelding of 15 years old. It is my best horse for now four years.
It is a small horse but with an impressive energy and a heart bigger than him.
He gives me everything all the time and I really believe in him. It is Junior
France champion two consecutive years and twice double European Junior vice
champion (individual and by team). Despite its age, it is always 100% motivated
at trainings, it likes what it does and it’s always a pleasure to work with
him. It’s the first time I have this kind of relationship with one of my
horses. It is very comfortable on the
three tests, it is a very complete horse.”
Parliamo del tuo cavallo: Phunambule des Auges. Presentacelo bene: carattere, caratteristiche, qualità, pregi e difetti, cosa
ti piace, cosa non ti piace, come è da lavorare…
“Phunambule è un castrone di 15 anni. E’ il mio
cavallo di punta da almeno 4 anni. E’ un cavallo piccolino ma con una energia
impressionante ed un cuore più grande di lui. Mi dà tutto ogni volta ed io
davvero credo in lui. È il campione francese Junior per due volte consecutive e
due volte vice campione europeo junior –individuale ed a squadre. Nonostante la
sua età è sempre motivato al 100% durante gli allenamenti, ama quello che fa,
ed è sempre un piacere lavorare con lui. E’ la prima volta che ho questo tipo
di rapporto con uno dei miei cavalli, è molto comodo nelle tre prove e posso
affermare che si tratta di un cavallo molto completo”.
6. Is it your last
European championship by young rider?
“I have only one year left.”
E’ il tuo ultimo campionato europeo Young rider?
“ E’ rimasto solo un altro anno”

7. Someone already thinks,
when you become senior, at your "confrontation" with Michael Jung. It will be
interesting, do not you think? And do you ever think about it?
“In this sport, it is very
important to remain humble. My main goal is to keep doing what I do all my life,
play high level sports and live with horses. Obviously I can’t wait to evolve
on the senior tour and to confront myself to the world’s best riders. I love
competition and I always have this will to win and to be the best. Michael Jung
is an extraterrestrial, for me he is a reference in this sport. It’s important to do things step by step, when I will
be ready I will do my best to do better than him even if his palmares is
already incredible but for the moment I admire him and he inspires me and this
is what I like.”
Qualcuno già pensa, quando diventi senior, al tuo
confronto con Michael Jung. Sarà interessante? Ci pensi mai?
“ In questo sport, è molto importante rimanere umile.
Il mio obiettivo principale è continuare a fare quello che faccio per tutta la
mia vita, gareggiare ad alto livello e vivere con i cavalli. Ovviamente non
vedo l’ora di passare a livello senior e di confrontarmi con i migliori al
mondo. Amo la competizione ed ho sempre voglia di vincere ed essere il
migliore. Michael Jung è un extraterrestre, per me è un punto di riferimento in
questo sport. È importante fare le cose passo dopo passo, quando sarò pronto
farò di tutto per fare meglio di lui,
anche se il suo palmares è già incredibile ma per il momento lo ammiro e lui è
una fonte di ispirazione e questo è
quello che mi piace. "
