"Monto Graf Liberty da quando aveva 6 anni"

We contacted our “friend”,  the Australian rider Chris Burton via email, immediately after the triumph at Blair Castle, where  he won the event rider masters 2018 on Graf Liberty. We , also,  talked  with him about the good shape of Lawtown girl and her forthcoming Tryon's world championship ... here's what he told us in this wonderful and timely interview.

Abbiamo contattato il nostro "amico", il cavaliere australiano Chris Burton via e-mail, subito dopo il trionfo al Blair Castle, dove ha vinto l’event rider masters  2018 su Graf liberty. Abbiamo anche parlato con lui della buona forma della cavalla italiana, ex Seriosa,  oggi Lawtown Girl  e del suo prossimo campionato mondiale di Tryon ... ecco cosa ci ha raccontato in questa intervista meravigliosa e tempestiva.

Let's make a comment on your victory in the CIC3 * of Blair castle: what are you most satisfied for?

“I think the ERM series is the most exciting development in our sport, so to win Blair and the series was a huge victory for me.”

Facciamo un commento sulla tua vittoria nel CIC3 * di Blair Castle: per cosa sei più soddisfatto?

 "Penso che la serie ERM sia lo sviluppo più eccitante del nostro sport, quindi vincere Blair e la serie, rappresenta  una grande vittoria per me."

 Tell us the three phases of the competition in Blair , point by point, describing the performance of your Irish horse,  Graf Liberty. And  what kind of horse is Graf Liberty: Can you describe him  in detail and what do you like about him?

“I have had Graf liberty since he was a 6 year old so we know each other pretty well. He is an incredibly talented horse, but he can make me work for it! He is very reliable in the dressage phase, he has a habit of making me feel like our test is going to be disastrous by playing up in the warm up and then behaves as soon as he goes into the ring. Showjumping would be his weakest phase but he really tried hard at Blair and was quite relaxed in the ring. Cross country is such a treat on Graf Liberty. He is so polite in the bridle, all I have to do is think slow and he slows and he is so honest at the fences. This makes him easy to ride smoothy and quickly.”

Raccontaci le tre fasi della competizione in Blair, punto per punto, descrivendo la prestazione  del tuo cavallo irlandese, Graf Liberty. E che tipo di cavallo è Graf Liberty: puoi descriverlo in dettaglio e cosa ti piace di lui?

"Ho avuto Graf Liberty  da quando aveva 6 anni, quindi ci conosciamo abbastanza bene. È un cavallo incredibilmente talentuoso, ma può farmi lavorare per questo! È molto affidabile nella fase di dressage, ha l'abitudine di farmi sentire come se il nostro test fosse disastroso, giocando nel warm up e poi si comporta bene appena entra sul ring. Il salto a ostacoli sarebbe stata la sua fase più debole, ma ha davvero  lavorato sodo  a Blair ed è stato piuttosto rilassato in campo.  Il cross country è un vero piacere per Graf Liberty. Lui è così gentile tra le mani, tutto quello che devo fare è pensare lentamente e lui rallenta ed è così corretto sui salti.  Questo lo rende facile da guidare, fluido  e veloce. "

"Mi piacerebbe vincere a Tryon una medaglia d'oro come squadra.
Una medaglia individuale sarebbe un bel premio per!"

Let's talk about the horses you ride. One in particular that is dear to Italy because it comes from our country. Today it's called Lawtown Girl by us was called Seriosa. You won with her in France in early August the CCI1 *. We care a lot about this mare: tell us about her, about this triumph in France, about her progress in the competition and what do you like about this subject? what do you expect for your future?

“This horse is an absolute super star. She has won every event she has done. We joke that she wrote the book on XC, she just feels like she knows everything there is to know. If I had to ride her around Burghley tomorrow we would both be fine. We are very excited about her future, well done to Italy for producing her.”

Parliamo di altri cavalli che monti. . Uno in particolare che è caro all'Italia perché proviene dal nostro paese. Oggi si chiama Lawtown Girl,da noi si chiamava Seriosa. Hai vinto con lei in Francia all'inizio di agosto, il  CCI1 *. Ci importa molto di questa cavalla: raccontaci di lei, di questo trionfo in Francia, dei suoi progressi in gara  e di cosa ti piace di questo soggetto? cosa ti aspetti per il suo  futuro?

"Questo cavallo è una super star assoluta. Ha vinto tutte le gare che ha fatto. Scherziamo, dicendo che pare abbia scritto il manuale sul Cross country,  si sente come se sapesse tutto quello che c'è da sapere. Se dovessi accompagnarla a Burghley ,  saremmo entrambi a posto. Siamo molto entusiasti del suo futuro, devo dire “ben fatto  Italia per averla prodotta "!

Chris Burton and Tryon Weg. Soon you will leave to represent your country at the world championships. I saw that you already talked in the interview about the emotion of representing your country ... so how do you try to do it in America on the horse you've chosen: Cooley Lands. Tell us about him, his strengths and his character. What do you expect from this world championship?

“Cooley Lands and I have done a few events together but he spends most of his time being ridden by his owner Kate Walls. He has an exceptional attitude and he loves what he does. That makes my job a lot easier. Hopefully we can do our country proud.”

Ho visto che hai già parlato in 'intervista sull'emozione di rappresentare il tuo paese ... quindi come provi a farlo in America sul cavallo che hai scelto: Cooley Lands?  Parlaci di lui, dei suoi punti di forza e del suo carattere. Cosa ti aspetti da questo campionato del mondo?

"Cooley Lands ed io abbiamo fatto alcune gare  insieme, ma  per la maggior parte viene montato dal suo proprietario  Kate Walls. Ha un atteggiamento eccezionale e ama ciò che fa. Questo rende il mio lavoro molto più semplice. Speriamo di poter rendere orgoglioso il nostro Paese”

 What did you think when you read about the "ET" withdrawal  Michael Jung for Rocana's injury?

“This is sport and no matter how alien you are sadly horses will still get injured. It is unfortunate for Michael that he didn’t have a reserve horse and it is a big blow for the German team.”

Che cosa hai pensato quando hai letto del ritiro di "ET" Michael Jung per l'infortunio di Rocana?

"Questo è lo sport e non importa quanto sei alieno, purtroppo i cavalli continueranno a ferirsi. È  una sfortuna  per Michael ,che non ha avuto un cavallo di riserva ed è un duro colpo per la squadra tedesca ".

What is the team to beat in Tryon, in you opinion,  and which is the pair  could come out on at indivudual level?

“The Kiwis are a great team and a natural rival of the Australian’s so I think they will be the ones we focus on! I think Julia Krejewski will be a tough one to beat.”

Qual è la squadra da battere in Tryon, secondo te, e qual è la coppia che potrebbe uscire a livello individuale?

"I kiwi sono una grande squadra e un rivale naturale degli australiani, quindi penso che saranno quelli su cui ci concentreremo! Penso che Julia Krejewski sarà una dura da battere.”

What do you dream and hope for  your  world championship?

“I would love a team gold medal. It is so exciting to do well as a team. An individual medal would be a bonus. “

Cosa sogni e speri per il tuo campionato del mondo?

"Mi piacerebbe una medaglia d'oro come  squadra. È così eccitante fare bene come squadra. Una medaglia individuale sarebbe un bel premio. “

 The cross  country course will be very long and certainly ,challenging, perhaps more challenging than an Olympics. How did you prepare yourself?

“The best you can do is have your horse feeling fit an well. I am very happy with how my horse is feeling after his final gallop. Then it is up to me on the day to give him the smoothest ride I can so we save as much of his energy, physical and mental, as I can.”

Il percorso di cross country sarà molto lungo e sicuramente impegnativo, forse più impegnativo di un'Olimpiade. Come ti sei preparato?

"Il meglio che puoi fare, è  avere il proprio cavallo che si sente bene ed in forma. Sono molto contento di come si sente il mio cavallo dopo il suo galoppo finale. Poi spetta a me il giorno della gara, montarlo nella maniera più fluida e regolare  possibile, in modo da risparmiare la maggior parte della sua energia, fisica e mentale. "
